Brooklyn Nets Fire Head Coach Avery Johnson

The Nets Released this Press release stating:

The Brooklyn Nets have relieved Avery Johnson of his head coaching duties, it was announced today by General Manager Billy King. A search for a new head coach will begin immediately.

“The Nets ownership would like to express thanks to Avery for his efforts and to wish him every success in the future,” said Brooklyn Nets principal owner Mikhail Prokhorov. Johnson was named head coach of the Nets on June 15, 2010. In two-plus seasons as head coach of the Nets, Johnson compiled a record of 60-116.

A league source confirms that the search for a new coach is underway and in the meantime, Nets assistant coach P.J. Carlesimo will serve as the Nets’ intermin coach.

Avery Johnson has spent the last two years talking about and preparing for Brooklyn.  He lasted 28 games.

Personally, I am pretty surprised. Although the Nets have been struggling lately, they did have a strong start to the season.  I think D-will not playing well and Lopez getting hurt had more to do with the losing streak, but who am I to know.

Kyrie Irving Busted Cheating on his GF on Christmas Via Twitter

Kyrie shot off a the above picture in a tweet over Xmas. Almost immediately after tweeting this pic with himself cuddled up with a couple of very attentive ladies, he proceeded to pretend it was a fake. Really Kyrie? You tweeted a fake picture of yourself? That makes zero sense.

What makes a lot more sense is you tweeted the picture of yourself running game on a couple ladies and then realized your the internet connects to Brazil and that your current girlfriend who was visiting family in Brazil was going to see it. This lead to the following attempted tweet trail cover-ups. We’re not buying it Uncle Drew. It’s ok, at least you weren’t in a strip club.

If anyone even had a doubt to Irving’s guilt is complete panic attack after the photo was quickly removed should make it clear. These are not the tweets of an innocent man. They are the guilty tweets of someone trying to dig himself out of a hole. The proof is in the photo and the followup tweets. Judge for yourself. Do you think Kyrie did it?

Now, we only need to find out if this will be the end of their relationship or if she’s going to continue to play the game Kyrie style.

Linsanity Still Rocks MSG

Jeremy Lin scored 22 in his New York return, as the Rockets served the Knicks their first loss at MSG. The Rockets defeated the Knicks 109-96.  Although Knick fans all knew that we could not stay perfect at home forever, this was a very big loss.  It showed Knicks fans that when there three-ball is not falling, do they have what it takes?

The Knicks were missing Carmelo Anthony tonight and Rasheed Wallace.  Wallace was definitely missed defensively and in the paint.

The top performers tonight were James Harden with 28 points 10 rebounds(Rockets) and for the Knicks, Chris Copeland had 29 points and 5 rebounds.

Knicks have there four game winning-streak snapped.

BATTLE OF THE BOROUGHS: ROUND 2

After a very bad start for the Knicks,they come back to defeat the Nets 100-97.

Carmelo scored 45 points, most points scored in an NBA game this year. Kidd had 18 points , 6 assists, and NO turnovers.

Andray Blatche had a great game scoring 12 points in the first quarter(finished with 23), and the Nets out-scored the Knicks in the paint.

Although the Nets dominated in the paint, the Knicks were red hot from the three point line. The Knicks had come back from a 17 point deficit in this high energy subway-series-like game. I think this game made these two teams rivals. Both games with the Nets vs Knicks have been very suspenseful and great for the fans. Melo carried the team with his amazing offensive prowess and clutch-gene. Deron Williams did not make the big plays down the stretch and was out-played by Jason Kidd (made game winner). Now the series is tied at 1-1 since the Nets moved to Brooklyn, both games coming down to the tense final minutes.

Fun Facts:

The Nets have lost their last 5 games in a row.

This was the first loss with  Jay-Z in the building.

Nets last 4 losses have been at the Barclays center.

The Knicks play the Lakers next, and improve to a record of 16-5

Kobe Hits a Milestone

On the Lakers’ 9th win of the season, Kobe Bryant surpassed 30,000 points in his career. Bryant was the story of the night, as he became the youngest player in NBA history, at 34 years and 104 days old, to score over 30,000 points in a career.  In doing so, he became only the fifth player in history to reach that mark, joining the likes of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387), Karl Malone (36,928), Michael Jordan (32,292) and Wilt Chamberlain (31,419).

“It’s a huge honor, to say the least,” Bryant said earlier this week.  “Whenever you hear those kinds of names, you think about the amount of players that have played this game, and then to be in that kind of company, it’s always extremely, extremely special.”
