Hornets Finally to Have an Owner!

atthehive.com sent a relase out stating:

Stern said the league is “very close” with one potential buyer and expects the deal and the new lease in New Orleans to be completed around March 1.

“We’re moving on dual tracks on a buyer, and with the state’s contribution under a new lease that will likely be complete, both of those, by March 1 or on or about March 1. The deal itself can’t close until the legislature confirms the role of the state, and the legislature convenes in March,” Stern said.

Chris Paul Tells Agent He Only Wants To Go To Knicks

According to Marc Spears from yahoo Sports:

Chris Paul’s agent informed New Orleans officials on Wednesday that his client will not sign a contract extension and wants to be traded to the New York Knicks, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. As soon as the NBA lifts its lockout restrictions, Hornets general manager Dell Demps wants to meet with Paul and hear that directive from him. …. The Hornets will be motivated to make a deal as soon as possible for Paul, and aren’t completely determined to get a point guard in return for him, sources said.

Me:

The Knicks do not have a lot of Cap space right now so there is no way that Chris Paul would really be able to sign a MAX deal.  You have to remeber that when LeBron, Wade, and Bosh formed their unholy union, each player took a pay cut from what they could be reciving in order for the organization to have enough space and money for them.

Also, The league currently owns the Hornets and I fell that by trading him to the Knicks, they would be going against everything that this entire lockout has stood for on their side (owners).

Ultimatly…do you think that Chris Paul will wind up on the Knicks bench for this 66 game season or do you think he will stick out the year with the hornets? Let me know your thoughts! 🙂
